If you are a person with a disability, you can sign up to get amazing opportunities to showcase your talent, freelancing assignments and shows.
This blog will help you understand the process of signing up with Atypical Advantage as a talent by breaking down all the steps and explaining them in detail. Don’t worry, we got your back! Read on to understand the process.
1.Creating an account
First of all, you can start by creating an account by clicking on sign up at the first slide in the website or on the upper right corner.
Fill in your name, email ID, contact number and set a password for your account. Make sure to keep a strong password, and one which you can easily remember.
2. Filling the details
This page will allow you to tell us where you reside, what is the cost of your performance in an event (Approximate Budget), what’s your talent and your disability. You can mention an alternate contact number, preferably of your parent/guardian etc.
For example, you reside in New Delhi, Delhi so this will come under the city and state respectively. If you charge Rs 500 for a one-hour performance, you have to mention Rs 500 under the Budget section.
You can select the category of talent to which you belong. If your category is not mentioned in the drop down menu, you can select ‘Miscellaneous’. Mention your complete address with pincode in the Address section.
Lastly, select your disability from the drop down menu at the end of the page. You have the option of selecting ‘Others’ if your disability is not mentioned there. You can choose to tick the check box if you want your address to be visible on the platform.
3. Listing tags and bio
Tags help refine the search outcomes when a person searches for talent on our website. You can write as many tags as you can, related to your talent so that people can find you when looking for a particular talent.
For example, if you are a singer, you can mention all the genres of songs you like to sing whether it’s Bollywood, pop, rock etc. these can act as your tags. This will help people in finding the right person for the job that they are looking for.
Next, a short bio will help the employer in knowing more about you. In this section, you can mention all your achievements and your skills in the profession. This gives the employer an idea about your working ethics and if your skills align with their needs.
For a comprehensive overview, you can describe your disability, if you want to. Furthermore, you can also mention your current Job title or workplace, University degree and other qualifications, Personal or professional goals, Mission statement and values, Additional Skills and expertise and Interests and hobbies.
Example bio — Affected with Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis from the age of 3, Mehar is a 22 year old girl with locomotor disability. At the age of 10, she succumbed to ‘Total Hip Replacement Surgery’ and had to get both her hands operated. She is an ardent lover of music right from early childhood and has an innate talent for singing. She has received guidance in Carnatic Music from Sariga Sangeetha Academy and has been an active participant in the field of Musical concerts in various parts of Kerala. Mehar has won several prestigious laurels including First prize for Malayalam Recitation All Kerala Youth festival conducted by Cochin Shipyard and several other accolades for Karaoke Film song competitions held by various organisations like Upasana Music club, Kadungalloor, Aluva and Prajaahita Foundation, Calicut. Her voice has added to the charm and beauty at many events and she believes in living life to the fullest.
4. Attaching suitable work links
This is the category for you to shine! Here, you can attach all the links to your work, whether it’s an article published about you, a YouTube link or your blog link. This will help people in seeing you at work. You can showcase your talent here by attaching as many links as you want. It can be a video, a photograph or a website link.
For example, if you have a YouTube page of your videos, you can attach a link to that page. If you performed at an event, you can attach a photograph of you performing as well.
This is absolutely optional and there is no compulsion for the talent to add links here. If you don’t have any published material, you can just skip ahead to the next step.
Lastly, tick the last option to signify that you agree with terms and conditions of the website. Hit ‘Continue’ to move to the next step!
5. Upload your pictures
After being onboard with basic details, in this section, you can upload photographs of your pretty self so that people can be familiarized with you. You can add as many photos as you like. Make sure the pictures are in appropriate dimensions and their quality is also superior.
A perfect photograph is 1500 and 2500 pixels wide. Images smaller than 1500 pixels may appear blurry or pixelated when they stretch to fill containers, such as banners. The image dimension has to be 4:3.
